The eldest son of Charles and Ella May Lewis, of 184 West St., Chatham, Ontario, Canada. He had one brother living at home and a brother in Bothwell and three sisters. Charles was a native of Bothwell and district, his parents moved to Chatham in 1941.Prior to his enlistment he was employed at the Ford Motor Company in Windsor, ON.

He enlisted in December 1942 with an Armoured Corps. Pte. Lewis was reported training at No. 14 BTC. – Stratford, ON. when he returned home on furlough to Bothwell for Christmas. BT 31/12/42.

Langford was posted overseas in July of 1943, going overseas at the same time with his brother Arthur (he was reported receiving an honorable discharge in March of 1943)  Before serving in Italy he had seen action in North Africa with the 8th Army, going to Italy in January 1944. Pte. Lewis was killed in action while serving with the Princess Louise Dragoon Guard in Italy. CDN 12/10/44.
