The son of Lawrence O. and Mrs. LaRochell of William St., Chatham. Married to Leah (nee Rivard), they had a small son and were living at her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rivard of Chatham.

Kenneth enlisted in Windsor, On., in August 1942. Kenneth received his training in Chatham (No. 12 BTC.), Calgary, Barriefield, Petawawa and Debert, NS. and London. He went overseas in in the spring of 1944 with the Grenadier Guards of Montrael, PQ.

Sgt. LaRochelle went to the continent in July of 1944and since then saw action in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany.

Leah received a message from the Department of National Defence, Ottawa; reported in the CDN 23/11/45 as follows:

Dear Mrs. LaRochelle,

 

It is with much pleasure that I write you on behalf of the Minister of National Defence and members of the Army Council to congratulate you and member of your family on the honour and distinction that have come to your husband Sergt. Kenneth Foster LaRochelle through the award to him of the Military Medal in recog nition of gallent and distinguished service in the field.
