The son of Mrs. C. D. Kent of King St. West, Chatham, ON.  A graduate of the University of Toronto and he took up flying as a career.  The brother of Sqd. ldr. William Kent.

Trained in Hamilton, Coal Harbour S.C. Clinton, Ontario and Vancouver British Columbia Posted for overseas duty and served fifteen months abroad. Date unknown. [GOH file].

Jon was reported serving overseas in an unidentified news article, date unknown. [GOH file].

It was reported in the CDN 2/12/42 that Mrs. Kent had gone to Hamilton to be near her son who had undergone an emergency operation for appendicitis.

The CDN 18/09/43 reported that he had spent two weeks in Chatham with his wife and mother before returning to the west coast. 

It was reported that LAC Kent was returning to Chatham from Vancouver, BC. with his wife Anne or Norma Mae (nee Jones) of Thamesville visited with Mrs. C. D. Kent of King St. West,  Chatham and Mrs. H. W. Jones on Prince Arthur Ave., Chatham   CDN 12/02/45.  The CDN 12/02/45 reported that he and Mrs. Kent were arriving from Vancouver. They came to visit Mrs. C. D. Kent of King St. West and Mrs. H. W. Jones on Prince Arthur Ave.    They also had a son David William. The CDN 12/02/45 reported that he and Mrs. Kent were arriving from Vancouver.   They came to visit Mrs. C. D. Kent of King St. West and Mrs. H. W. Jones on Prince Arthur Ave. 

While overseas he was involved in several actions against German submarines in the Coastal Command in England. He was given credit for the possible sinking of a U-Boat.

Wing Commander Kent was stationed on the West coast as chief instructor at Patricia Bay, BC.. His wife and children were residing in Victoria BC. 

Discharged July 11th, 1946.
