Regimental number: 880776 Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 5061 – 3, Item: 497079, PDF: B5061. Date of Birth 16/04/1890 at Thamesville, ON. Son of Polly (nee McDonald / (1859-1934), (mother), and David Kelly ( 1853-1933) of Thamesville, Kent Co., ON.. A single labourer. Attestation: 15/05/1916 at Chatham, On to 186th  O/S. Bn. Single. Age: 26 years 1 mth., Height: 5’ 7 ¾”,Girth: 36”, Weight 150#. Complexion: Fresh, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Dark Brown. Two scars on right gluteal region, 3 cornered scar on Right hand near little finger. Medical exam 15/05/1916 at Chatham, ON.

Reported to Camp Borden 13/09/16. Routine exam 6 Mar. 1916 – Routine exam . Military Regulations  he was reported “UNFIT”, 20/03/1917 – (Orval) Discharged with $22.00.

“Being unfit medically through causes not due to military service. 20/03/17. Medical Board – “Indifferant.” Medical History of an invalid: – Served with 186th Batt. 15/05/16 to 6/03/17. Reasons: Mitral systolic murmur. “Do not know, before enlistment?”  There is a loud murmur at the apex heard during systelic. It is transmitted into axilla and heard faintly in the back. The heart is about normal in size and the apex beat in the fifth interspace ¼ from nippleline inward – Not from service. Medical Board agreed to Discharge 

There is no record of being overseas.  

Orval worked as a general labourer and lineman for the P.U.C in Thamesville and Chatham. Remained single and died in Thamesville 14 August, 1956. Buried with his parents in the Sherman Cemetery, Thamesville, ON.
