It was reported that Ernie was leaving his family home at Dover Centre, Kent Co., ON., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Isaac to join the RCAF. Before he left a party was given to honour Ernie’s bride Doris (nee McGregor), he was given a friendly send-off at the Dover Centre Hall before leaving for Hamilton with many gifts that were showered on the newlyweds. CDN 3/10/42.

The CDN 24/09/43 reported that Ernie had been at the family home after he completed his Elementary Flying Course at Goderich, ON. He left to take up his duties at the Service Flying School at Hagersville.

It was reported in the CDN 12/02/44 that Sgt. E. G. Isaacs of Dover Centre received his “Wings” at No.16 S.F.T.S. Hagersville presented by Group Capt. D. Harding A.F.C. The CDN 4/03/44 reported that Ernie had left for L’Ancieme-Lorette, PQ. to take up his duties as a staff-pilot at No. 6 A.O.S. after a two week furlough with his wife and parents in Dover Centre.
