The brother of James Roland (DFC & Bar ), Raymond (KIA), and L/Cpl.Maxine serving in Detroit and Kate also in the CWAC. He was home on leave from the Toronto Manning Centre. CDN 15/10/42.
John spent a short furlough with his relatives in Kent Bridge.
The CDN 21/06/43 Reported that LAC Hughes reported that he arrived safely overseas. Mrs. John Hughes the wife, was living at 221 Grand Ave. W., Chatham when she received the news.
Reported arriving at Halifax, NS. aboard the S. S. “Nieu Amsterdam”, 9 Sept., 1945. Expected to arrive at Lachine, PQ on the 11th for leave to return to their homes. CDN 16/01/45, CDN 10/09/45.
