Regimental number: 3136321. Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 4337A – 59, Item: 469919, PDF: B4337A – SO59. Date of Birth: 8/01/1897. A single farmer, the son of Alfred Highgate of R.R.# 1, Turnerville, Kent Co., ON. Attestation: 23/05/1918 at London, ON. MSA-708208. Canadian Forestry Corps. Age: 21 years 5 mos./ height 5’ 5 1/2” / Complexion: Medium, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Brown.

A note in file requesting medals be sent to R.R.#3 Appin, R.R.#3 to C Highgate c/o William Nevels.    

It was noted that Alfred Highgate was living in Chatham, ON. at 155 Wellington St. East.

Private Clifford Highgate enlisted June 1st, 1918 in 2nd Construction Batt. and went to England the latter part of that month, he went to France October 1918 and remained there until March 1919 where he returned to England returning to Canada May 1919.

Clifford departed Canada 10/07/18 aboard the S. S. Saturnia arriving in England 22/07/18 and disembarked with 8 Coy. Canadian Forestry Corp in France 11/10/18.

27/03/19 Clifford was a patient the Lititary Convalescent Hospital, Woodcote Park, Epsom, Surrey. He was “Well enough to be discharged “free of Verman, Venoral and infectious diseases”.   

It was reported that Pte. Clifford Highgate was a patient at Beech Hill Hospital, Englefield Green suffering from the effects of Influenza. He was discharged 

He returned to Canada 12/05/1919 aboard HMT Regina arriving at Halifax 28/05/19 and was discharged from service at London, ON. 31/05/19.  Served in France CDN  Forestry Corps., CEF. 

Discharged  June 3rd at London due to demobilization.
