Fred  trained at HMCS Cornwallis, Stradcona, Scotian and Niobe in Canada and HMS Turnstone, Fledgling, Garnnet, Kestral and Condor in England.

“Just before the end of the war he was on a ship going to Japan (name not included) the Captain heard that peace was declared and was heading home, in no time, wheeling  the ship so fast and sharp he almost landed in the ocean.” –  Bette Hicks – wife.

Fred married Betty and she was living on Park St., Chatham after Fred’s death.
