Highland Light Infantry. The son of Mrs. Irene Green of Chatham; his father Sgt. George Grant was killed in the Great War. The CDN 26/01/44(P) reported that Pte. Grant had been suffered an ankle injury during his training in England.

Nelson had enlisted in February 1943 and had trained at Camp Ipperwash and Listowell, ON.
