“This is my grandfather George Henry Goddard.  His number is 602561.  He was a Canadian Expedionary who joined up in the London Wolsley Barracks and was shipped overseas from there.  He was 20 years old upon joining.   His medals are the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.  In my opinion they are all hero’s .  He was in several battles, Ypres, Passendale, Vimy Ridge, Amiens, and several more , and was wounded at Monquet Farms.  He was shot and gassed more than once.  He was a signalier and was proficient in morse code, flags, pigeons, map reading and use of the compass.  While stationed at Walmer Barracks, Walmer England he met and married Rose Edith Macey.  In 1919 he brought his bride to Canada with the other soldiers and I suppose their wives as well.  He worked for 40 years and 5 months at International Harvester Chatham retiring in 1960.  George and Rose raised 8 children .  I do hope this picture comes out okay.  If not I have a good one I will mail to you.   I also have several members of both my and  my husbands family that I will put together for you and email.   With Thanks     Diane Miller.   Hope this is what you want when you said    I am just reading the back of your info .  He lived at 59 Taylor Ave. Chatham Ontario. He was born December 1895 in Sheffield England and came to Canada in 1906 with his father and 5 sibblings.”

Diane Miller,

Granddaughter
