Hugh enlisted with the 2nd Kent Regt. where he was a Cpl. A470261 in Coy.-C. He was promoted to the Rank of Lieutenant in 1942 while he was stationed at Victoria, BC. with the Kents. Prior to going overseas on active service he was on leave in Chatham before going to Camp Bordon, ON for additional training. CDN 16/04/42.
Trained in Canada for one and a half years. Went overseas and spent four years and three months in England, France, Belgium, and Holland, Germany and Czechoslava. Promoted to the rank of Major.
Discharged March 5th, 1946.
