Son of Thomas Roberts Fydell of Burford, ON. A teacher living at 2 Triller Ave., Toronto, ON. Next of Kin: Thomas Robert Fydell. A single teacher who taught at Chatham Collegiate Institute. Some experience with the 109th Regt. not in Chatham or Kent.  Attestation: 1/05/1916 at Toronto, ON. to 169th Bn.

Apparent age: 33 yrs. 2 mths., Height: 5’ 7 ½”, Girth 36 “ Complexion: Fresh, Eyes: Blue, Hair:  Brown. Scar on inside of left thigh, scars from chicken-Pox on his left side. Medical:- “Fit”. 1/05/1916 at Toronto, ON. Weight 155 to 158 #.

Officers Declaration Paper – Lieut. 169th Bn. “Willing to serve overseas. 12/01/16 at Toronto, ON. Attestation 67th Battery – address 93 Cowan Ave., Toronto, ON. Previous Military service: – 9th Battery 3 mos. Lieut, 109th Regt. 9 mos. 169th O/S Batt. 3 mos. As Lieut. 67th Batt. 5 ½ mos. as a Gunner.

The 169th Bn. 1916 January to April was in training. Has progression through the ‘Ranks’ as follows Probation Bombader 24/06/16, Cpl. 1/09/16, Gunner – 18/10/16. SOS to Commission – all at Toronto, ON. #2 District, Depot, Toronto.1/06/18.

The unit sailed 28/03/17 aboard the S. S. Missanabie. Arrival at Liverpool 1/04/17.

Attestation; 17/01/1917 at Toronto, ON. His Mutual Life Ins. Co. Canada was paid up 23/01/17.

While in England he contracted Nephritis: A condition in which the nephrons, the fictional units of the Kidney becomes inflamed. As a result Lieut. Fydell was admitted to the Ontario Military Hospital at Orpington, Kent, England.  

4/ 08/17 – He was very ill with Dyspnea and palpitation. He was hospitalizes in France 13/08/17 was invalided to England – Sick. 27/08/17 TOS “Invalided to England. 27/08/17 “Invalided to Canada, as a Category E.   26/02/17 was reported in a Convalescent Home in Toronto 

Found on Chatham Collegiate Institute Roll of Honour, Chatham, ON. found at C-K Museum, Chatham, ON. Not sure of the date he was at CCI.
