 (Fr. Leg.of Hon.)  Born 10/04/1921, the son of Elizabeth, Embury of Jackson St., Blenheim, ON., the brother of Edwin, George, Fern (Bond), Hazel (Scoyne), Ken, Fred, and Gordon Embury.

Prior to his enlistment Glen was a sports enthusiast mostly baseball and then hockey. He had tried out with the Detroit Tigers.  He was a grocery store clerk, and when he asked for a raise, he was refused so he joined the Army.

Smoke enlisted when he was 21 years old with the Kent Regt. 7/08/1940 at Chatham, ON. [A41322] but later transferred to the Essex Scottish Regt. in Windsor, ON. According to his Military file he did guard duty in London, ON. and on the west coast of Canada before going overseas 30 Sept., 1942.  He served overseas in France, Holland, and Belgium until 11 August, 1945.

Glen was discharged from the Army 19 January, 1946 at Wosley Barracks, London, ON.

After the war he returned and married Merle (nee Pardo) and they started a family,  the father of Patricia D. and Janice (Turner).   He worked at A. J. Sales, the Union Gas and the Motor Wheel plant in Chatham. In the season, he enjoyed hunting ducks and pheasants.

He received the French Legion of Honour in October 2014.

Glen passed away 23 January, 2017 at the age of 94 years old. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, ON. CDN 25/01/17 obit.
