N of K: John Wesley Elgie of Wallaceburg, ON. A single farmer or a sailor. Attestation: 20/08/1915 at Barriefield, ON. to 59th Bn. age 20 years 8 mos. 5’ 2”. Medical at Port Hope, ON. 9/08/15 for 2nd COR. MSA #3108652 (not registered). He gave P.O. Box Wallaceburg, ON., and place of birth “near Wallaceburg”, trade Sailor. In this case his next of kin was Elizabeth Elgie (grandmother) of Wallaceburg, age 23 years 2 mos. Height now 5’ 1”.

Frank served in France with the RCR from Feburary to August 1917.

The following came from his file of WWI service: “MEDICAL CASE SHEET”.

He suffered from Epilipsy. “Had two fits last week. (While serving in the RCR) He had them for the past five months between 5/04/17 and 21/04/17 he has had no fits’.  Both of his feet were repoted as “Flat” 

Frank spent a good deal of time in various hospital.  

6/01/17 – He was hospitalizes at No.2 General Hospital – Le Taeport. “Taking spells in trenches – no use of limbs”.

14/01/17 – 3rd. General Hospital – Sheffield, England. “Epilepsy – witnessed by Nursing Sister in France. He had fits nine years ago.”     

15/02/17 – Transferred to Bushy Park.

This medical was done at Hamilton, ON. 27/03/1918.

9/05/18 – Exhibation Camp Hospital – “Wound with lodgement of foreign bodies.” He was transferred to the Toronto General Hospital for treatment. A result of a GSW in the right lumbar region. Transferred to Spadina Military Hospital required physical trying.
