Pte. A 470288, Oxford Rifles. Born in 1916 the son of James and Mary Ellen (O’Rourke) Doyle, the brother of Arleen and Mary (Leblanc). The husband of Bernice (nee Whaling) 21/06/51, the father of Mary Patricia and Michael.

Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N., Coy-C. (date unknown). In May of 1942 Cpl.  Served over two years with the 2nd Kents.

Doyle was reported home in May of 1942 to attend a party for P/O Bernard Denomy before he left for Charllotetown PEI and Maurice returned to Carling Heights, London. CDN 19/05/42.

Maurice would transfer to the Oxford Rifles and served in Prince George, BC. with that unit as a Pte. A 610177.  Discharged April 9th, 1946.

After the war Maurice worked at the Boyes & Herd Mensware store, King St. West Chatham.

Maurice passed away 24/08/1988 at the age of 72. Internment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
