1916 March to -1/04/1917 – UNIT SAILED 28/03/17 . Arrived in England 7/04/17 aboard the S. S. Lapland 15/08/18. 10/12/17 – Having proceeded O/S. TO 1ST BN. is S.O.S. TO 4TH Res. Batt. ARV – FRANCE – 30/12/17 – Left unit – Joined unit – 31/13/17 

South port Infirmary attached: 17/08/18. 28/08/18 – Wounded – sent to St. Aux – Hospital at Liverpool – 1st Western Gen. Hosp. – Fazakerley – Liverpool –  Venide St Aux – Military Hospital – Liverpool 25/08/18 – 20/09/18 for a GSW to his left foot. Trans to Loodeote Park – Epson – MGH 20/09/18 TO 9/10/18. GSW Left foot – wounded healed. List Heart and Lungs normal – Discharged to Common Sport – CAMC.        

13/11/18 – 4th Posting from WORD. 3/12/18 – 4TH  Bn. att. To unit – Kinnel Park – SOS to CANADA. 12/12/18.  Command – Kinnel Park Camp – pending return to Canada. “ Scar (bullet wd.) anterior and below external ec/ us – left foot – Scar (bullet wd.) left heel. Both wounds – Small. Has slightly fallen arches both feet aequired during service ( man’s statement causing no apparent inconvenience. No disability due to service – Category (A2). 

Discharged on DEMOB: – FRANCE (W/1st. Batt.) – age 21yrs. – 27/o1/1919 at London ON. I.D. – C- 1151 / I.D.D. 10-C-293 – Subsistence Allowance from 22/12/18 to 20/01/1919 – Dic. HMS 27/01/1919 . Date of Service: 9/12/17 (24/01/19 ) – 27 Jan. 1919 – Age 21 yrs.  

It was reported that Earl was home on leave from London in July to celebrate Dominion Day. BT6/07/16.  Reported wounded in August 1918.  Celebrations must have been important to Earl as he, along with E. Buckenham, H. McColl, Fred Clarke and J. McRoberts attended a New Years celebration in Chatham ringing in 1917.
