Born in Indian Head Sask., the son of George and Ella Cragg, the brother of Douglas L. A55895. After a few years in Saskatchewan the family moved back to Chatham, ON. He and his family were living on Inches Ave., Chatham.

At the time of his enlistment Francis would have been exempt due to his age and having two children, however there was a need for men who work with the Ontario Hydro. He never left Ontario and worked in the stock room for sometime.

In July of 1942 George was returned to Toronto Manning Pool after a leave to Chatham to see his wife and family. CDN 22/07/42.
