The 2nd son of Mrs. Mary Copeland of Stanley Avenue, Chatham, brother of Charles 880603. Stanley enlisted in Scotland with the Gordon Highlanders at the “beginning of the war” at the age of 19 years. CDP 3/05/1918. It is also repoted that the widow Copeland has two other sons one enlisted with the 186th at the time one was in England and the other in France.

Reported to have been living in Chatham, ON. prior to the outbreak of war. Perhaps a British reservist recalled in 1914.
