The son of Leonard and Mabel (Wingate) Chandler of Chatham. The brother of William Leonard (R259924).  (prior to Raymond’s enlistment in the Navy he was with the Kent Regt in Chatham service No. A49893). 

Prior to Raymond’s enlistment in the Navy, he was with the Kent Regt in Chatham service No. A49893. The Merlin Standard 9/10/41 reported that OS. Chambers then stationed at HMCS Hunter in Windsor was granted a week-end leave to visit with his wife and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Simmons Stevenson. The MS 16/10/41 reported the Stocker 2nd Class, still at RCNVR in Windsor, was once again visiting his wife’s parents. The MS 30/10/41 reported that Mrs. Chambers and Raymond spent the weekend with her parents and she was remaining there for a few days.   He was married and had one son named Jimmie. They had returned to the Tilbury area to visit family and friends TT 13/05/43.

The Merlin Standard 28/08/44 reported that Raymond and his wife along with their son Jimmie returned home after visiting relatives in Sarnia. Stoc. Chambers had been on a two week furlough before returning to the east coast. (date unknown other that 1944).
