Canniff, Wilbert LeRoy

 

 

In Service three and a half years. Served in the British Isles and India. Promoted to the rank of Flying Officers.

Discharged November 6th, 1945.

J36419 Flt. Lt. (P) RCAF. The son of Irene Canniff, living at 50 Patteson Ave., Chatham, ON.

Wilbert enlisted in the RCAF in July 1942, trained at Victoriaville, PQ., Cap de Madaline, PQ. at St. Hubert, PQ. After being commissioned he took a special course in Prince Edward Island.

P/O. Canniff who received his ‘Wings’ in October 1943 at St. Hubert’s PQ was standing first in his class of graduates.. Wilbert departed Chatham 15 January for the east coast. CDN 15/01/44

Mrs. Canniff received a cable from her son indicating that he had arrived safely overseas. CDN 6/03/44

Reported returning to Chatham from overseas duty 29 September, 1945.

Wilbert was promoted to Flight Lieutenant in October, 1945. CDN 1/10/45
