The son of the late Mrs. Brown and J. W. Brown of Dover Twsp., Kent Co., ON.  Before he enlisted Maurice was employed at the Ontario Steel Products Co. in Chatham. The husband of Marion (nee Stewart), she was residing with her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Stewart of 241 Grand Ave. East in Chatham. Prior to his enlistment, Maurice was an employee at the Ontario Steel plant in Chatham.  

Maurice enlisted in May of 1941. In March of 1942, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant-Pilot. He trained at Alymer. He received his Wings at Aylmer and saw service on Coastal patrol in Newfoundland for eleven months and at Dartmouth for seven months. Prior to going overseas, Maurice was stationed on the east coast. 

Brown married Marion Eva Stewart of Chatham at Holy Trinity Church CDN 17/03/42 and 26/03/42.  

The CDN 3/05/43 reported that P/O. M. W. Brown that he had taken his departure for the east coast after a two week leave in Chatham with his wife on Grand Avenue East.

The CDN 13/09/43(P) reported that his wife Marion had received information by cable that Pilot Officer Brown had arrived overseas.  

Went overseas and completed his operations of two hundred hours over Germany, as the commander of a flight of fighting Spitfires.  In February of 1944, Marion received word that her husband had been promoted to the rank of Flying Officer. He was serving overseas at the time CDN 3/02/44(P). He was promoted to the rank of Flight-Commander and was eventually wounded. He was hospitalized for some time at Eindhoven, Holland.
