Son of Adeline Broadbent of Petrolia, ON. A single farmer living at Oakdale. Next of Kin: Adeline Broadbent, of Petrolia. At some point date unknown he married Clarabelle “Clara”, (maiden name and marriage date unknown).

Complexion: Fair, Hair:Fair, Eyes: Blue, Height: 5’ 71/2”, Girth: 39”, Age:21 years. Garnet had an operation scar for Appendicte.    

 Attestation: 24/03/1916 at Sarnia, ON to 149th Bn 

Garnet was TOS (Taken On Strength) with the 5th Reserve Batt. at Dibgate. 9/05/17 He was SOS to the 20th Batt. overseas at Sandling in France. 6/09/17 and taken TOS with the 20th 8/09/17

It was reported that he left for the unit in the field and then transferred to the 24th in the field 

He was granted a 14 day leave for Paris 23/03/1918 then attached to the 2nd Batt. After his leave he rejoined the 20th Batt. (It is unclear where he went on his leave).

6/05/1918 Garnet was TOS with the Machine Gun Corp from the 20t Batt. 28/09/1918 he was granted a 14 day leave. Upon his rejoining 12/10/18 he was promoted to Corporal 

With the end of the war he proceeded to Canada, Part 2, Wing C.C.C. He was demobilized 25/05/1919  at Toronto, ON. 

Date of Death: 1 March, 1958
