Brennan, Francis

 

The son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Brennan of Patteson Avenue, Chatham, ON. Enlisting at HMCS Hunter in Windsor, ON. He was home on a week end leave in September, 1942. CDN 8/09/42. Francis was reported home for the Christmas holidays in the CDN 31/12/42 along with his brothers Harold and Charles, brother LAC Robert was overseas with the RAF.   

The CDN 20/05/44 reported that AB. Brennan was spending a 28-day furlough with his parents and returned to the East Coast to resume his training. Able Seaman Brennan was reported in the CDN 9/12/44 being on a twenty-eight day leave with his parents. 

Served over three years. Made eighteen trips across Atlantic. and was on Ship St. Pierre when it captured first German Submarine taken after hostilities ceased. Fifteen were taken by the St. Pierre in all. Awarded the 1939-1945 Star and the C.V.S.M.

Discharged October, 1945.
