General Military Hospital, Edmonton, London N 18. Dear Sir:- Our Red Cross visitor has again seen Pte. Beattie an I am sorry to say he does not find him very well. He is very weak and speaks with difficulty. There is an accumulation of pus under his arm which the doctor is trying to remove and which I hope will give him relief when it is taken away. He is receiving every possible care and attention and I hope to be able to send you a more favorable reported the next time. 

Mr. Charles Beattie of St. Clair Street received the following letter from the Red Cross HQ. regarding his son – Canadian Red Cross Society  – Hotel York  – London W.I.  dated 1/04/18. General Military Hospital.

7/01/19 Invalid – 29/12/18 – London, ON., 3/02/20 – MEDICALLY UNFIT. Medical Transfer Cert. 18th Bn. age 21vyears – admitted to hospital (29/12/18 ). 31/08/19.   

Discharge Certificate: Chatham, Canada – England and FRANCE – With 18th Bn. – Medical R.O.693, D/19. 6.18. Age 21yrs. , 5’ & ½” , Dark: Brown, Dark Brown – Sinus: Between 6 & 7 Ribs outside – Left. 7/02/20 – Admonished for A.W.L. 12/01/20.  Manary Line 3/02/1920. Disc. Section – 3 Feb. 1920 to Discharge – Date of Admission 28/01/1919 – Disc. 6/02/20.
