Banfield, Francis Donald

 

Don was born in Winnipeg. He was the son of F. M. and Flora (nee Horstead) CDN 14/10/1920 of Grand Ave. East. Don enlisted in the RCAF at an early age as a AC2. He worked on communications as a wireless Engineer Mechanic while serving in Newfoundland and Labrador, which counted as “overseas service” at the time. His RCAF experience equipped him for his life after the war when he owned and operated “Banfield T.V. Services” in Blenheim, ON. 

The CDN 19/07/44 reported that Donald was stationed at Newfoundland when he was granted a leave to visit his mother. 

Don was discharged in 1945.

Don had three children with Jean Margaret (nee Murray) who he married in Novembeer of 1946.  The children’s names were Grant, Howie, and Barb. Don was predeceased by his second wife Mary (nee Malina). Don was active in his community as the Governor of the Sertoma Club in Blenheim. He was living in Erieau at the time of his death.

Don passed away 3 November, 2011.
