Enlisted at Windsor, basic training at Quebec City. Was transferred to Cornwallis and then to Halifax for Radar Operator Training. Was on Corvette Convoy duty 15 months and the remainder of his service was spent on a minesweeper.

Discharged September 3rd, 1945.

The CDN 7/09/1954 reported that Clayton married Teresa Marie (nee Giroux)
