 I year of Cadet training. Attestation: 30/11/1915 at St. Thomas, ON to 91st Bn. Age: 18.

Handwritten Military Will: “In the event of my death I give all my prospects and effects to my sister Miss Lillian Allen. Mrs. M. Harvey, the cottage, in Bonchurch Isle of Wright.

Embarked at Halifax, NS. 29/06/16 and disembarked 3/07/16. Transferred to the 30th Bat

Date 25th, August 1917. “This is the place of my former will made September 8th, 1916. Signed Lionel A. Allen” July 20, 1916. 

Age: 18 years, Height: 5’ 6 ¼” , Girth: 35”, Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Blue, Hair: Light Brown, Weight : 135 #. Medical “Fit” 25/11/15.

His “Military Will” Gave all to his sister Lilian Allen C/o Mrs. M. Harvey, The cottage, Bonchurch, Isle of Wight. Dated 25/08/17 replacing his will of 8/09/16.  

Arrived in England 6/07/1916 transferring from the 91st to transfer to the 35th Batt. Lionel. Lionel was appointed to L/Cpl. 3/04/17; Cpl. 10/05/17; Sergeant: 10/10/17. 

He was taken on strength with the 4th Battalion in England.  August 21, 1916 he was transferred to the 38th, August 31, 1916 and he was taken on strength from the 38th in the field.  It appears as though on April 3, 1917 he applied to the Cpl, and was given the Cpl on May 10.  On October 10, 1917 he was to be Sergeant to Camp Etaples. 

January 15, 1918 he was posted from the 38th Battalion at Seaford, pending commission.
February 18, 1918 he was on commission at Seaford, granted a commission 15/01/18 Easrern  Ont. Right. He was Gazetted 15/05/18.

While serving for the 38th Battalion, he died from a gunshot wound in his back, DOW 30/09/18.  He was taken to No. 23 Casualty Clearing Station. His death occurred around September 30, 1918. Age: 20 years, while serving in the Eastern Ontario Regt.
