He arrived in the UK on the S.S. Lapland. TOS, C.C.D – Canterbury 19/04/15 Transferred to the 2^nd CMR 21/10/15. Landed in France 24/10/15. Admitted to hospital 30/12/18 for Influenza #23 General Hospital – Estaples  discharged 15/02/16.

7/04/16 – Sentenced to 7 days Number 1. Punishment for “insolence to a superior officer”.

John was killed in action between the 2^nd and 3^rd of June 1916 (Battle of Mont Sorrel). His widowed mother Jane Aikin  received the Memorial Plaque and Memorial Cross Medal, her second (764318) 13/01/1922.

John’s body was not found.
